Assistant Principal's Message
Semester One Reports
At St Joseph’s, our student reports reflect the ongoing assessment and learning journey of each child. Teachers collect and analyse a range of evidence throughout the semester to build a clear picture of student progress, achievement, and growth.
This semester, comments for Religion, English and Mathematics will be presented in two sections:
- Areas of Strength (2 specific strengths)
- Areas for Development (1 targeted area for growth)
This format is designed to support meaningful conversations about learning. By identifying strengths and an area for development, we can celebrate success while setting clear, achievable goals that guide classroom learning and student growth.
We encourage you to read and reflect on the report with your child—acknowledging their effort, celebrating their achievements, and discussing next steps in their learning journey.
Semester One Reports will be available on Friday 27th June (Week 9) via Compass.
Parent-Teacher Learning Conferences will be held across Weeks 9 and 10. These meetings are an important opportunity to partner with your child’s teacher to further explore their progress and support their learning goals. Information about how to book your conference will be shared via Compass in the coming weeks.
Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL)
Congratulations to the Red Sports Colour House for achieving the most tokens in the first half of this term! Students enjoyed an out of uniform day as their reward.
Our PBL focus this fortnight is Care for All - Care for belongings and equipment. This is a big focus area as we currently have our lost property bins filled with belongings such as hats, jackets, ties, lunch boxes and drink bottles. In class students are being reminded of strategies that will help them take responsibility for their belongings. This includes making sure their names are on items and that they develop a routine to check they have all their belongings with them. To further support this, we thank Year 6 members of the Student Leadership Team who ran a naming station last week. From a quick display of hands up at assembly, around one third of our school community visited the station to have their names marked on their belongings. Thank you, Year 6! If you have an opportunity, please discuss these concepts with your children. Be sure to clearly label all your child's belongings and encourage them to collect any of their lost items from the lost property boxes.
